But this one thing will change your life and make it great.

You cannot design or live a great life on New Year’s resolutions. Life has seasons, times, moments, and calendars.

Even though all these make life exciting and influence how we experience life and what we achieve, it still can never be a proper way to live your life.

All great, successful, and fulfilling lives have one thing in common: one clear purpose.

Then everything else is optimized to live and achieve that purpose. The defined purpose becomes a lens, a benchmark, and a target.

Purpose touches all areas of your life, not just one aspect of it, unlike resolutions.

Let me share with you a few differences between New Year’s resolutions and life purpose.

The former is more popular than the latter.

  1. Long-Term Perspective:

Life purpose provides a broader and more enduring framework for your personal development.

It focuses on the big picture and long-term goals, giving meaning to various aspects of life.

Whereas;

New Year’s resolutions often focus on short-term changes and lack a deeper, more profound connection to your overall life direction.

  1. Intrinsic Motivation:

Life purpose is a powerful source of intrinsic motivation. When your actions align with your purpose, you are more likely to stay motivated and committed over the long haul.

Whereas;

New Year’s resolutions may be driven by external pressures or societal expectations, making it harder to sustain motivation.

  1. Adaptability and Flexibility:

Life purpose is generally more flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances. It allows for adjustments and shifts in goals as life evolves.

Whereas;

New Year’s resolutions can become rigid, leading to frustration if you do not achieve them exactly as you planned.

  1. Holistic Approach:

Life purpose often encompasses various aspects of life, including career, relationships, personal development, and more. It encourages a more holistic approach to well-being.

Yet,

New Year’s resolutions focus on specific areas, potentially neglecting the interconnectedness of different life dimensions.

  1. Resilience in the Face of Setbacks:

Life Purpose: A strong sense of purpose provides resilience during challenging times. It will help you bounce back from setbacks and stay focused on your overall life journey.

But,

New Year’s resolutions lead to discouragement when immediate progress is not seen, potentially resulting in abandonment of the goals. You give up.

  1. Meaning and fulfillment:

Life purpose adds a sense of meaning and fulfillment to your daily activities. It will guide your decision-making and actions in a way that resonates with your core values.

Unlike,

New Year’s resolutions lack the depth of meaning associated with a larger life purpose, making them less impactful in the grand scheme of life.

If you are serious about your life, by now you know you need a purpose, not a New Year resolution.

Life and purpose transcend the calendar and New Year resolutions.

Fix your life purpose not your calendar.
