All of man’s life is full of imperfections, weaknesses, scarcity, limitedness, and ordeals; nevertheless, man has also been created with the capacity, intellect, and tenacity to deal with such realities. These things are facts of life, we cannot do away entirely with them, and we need to learn how to navigate life through them. It is either a half-full glass or a half-empty glass situation. It all depends on you.

Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant.

If they watch every cloud, they will never harvest.

Ecclesiastes 11:4

Here is a simpler version;

If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.

Life and success are two of the sweetest things we experience as humans. It feels good to be alive, primarily when we accomplish something worthwhile or achieve our goals and dreams.

But the challenge is that they involve risk.

Actually almost everything in this life involves a certain measure of risk. Because there are so many things and situations we cannot control, you cannot do, plan, or even think of doing anything without the risks involved crossing your mind. However, significant risks come with greater rewards.

People who have accomplished big things, achieved their goals, and been successful have not done that under perfect conditions or because they had ideal situations or a favorable atmosphere. Nevertheless, they took the risk, and they made it. As long as you live under the sun, you will face the same challenges and risks in everything you want to do.

You will always be faced with the imperfection challenge. Sometimes it will be on conditions, and other times it will be on your adequacy to deliver, succeed, or achieve. Your talent, skills, potential, experience, and knowledge will be scrutinized, and trust me, you will always feel like you are not good enough.

So it is not wise or helpful to procrastinate, fear, or even forsake going after your dreams, career, adventure, etc., because of the risks. Just being alive is a risk because you risk falling sick and dying. Traveling is a risk because you may get involved in an accident and pass or get a lifetime disability. Walking around is a risk because something may happen to you. It is not wise to fear threats when great rewards are a possibility.

There will never be a risk-free business, career, relationship, possibility, opportunity, and potential. And suppose you are waiting for the perfect time, opportunity, situation, chance, or partner. In that case, you will stay all your life and find none because it is all about the potential behind what you want to go after, not the conditions’ perfection.

If you want to learn what you’re about to do, learn all you can. If you’re going to plan, that’s fine. Plan wisely with great details. If you want to consult and ask for help, you can do so, and it is the right way to do things. But risks will always be there.

I do not mean you should be reckless in what you do. When you’re careless about anything and find yourself in trouble, do not attribute it to necessary risks. Risks are risks, and recklessness is recklessness. Most risks have nothing to do with you or any other person. Risks are things beyond our control.

So, what can you do with what you cannot control? You focus on what you can control, and that is you. You can control you. Prepare yourself to go after your dream. Though you may feel inadequate sometimes, focus on your potential and desire.

As I conclude, I will leave you with these questions to help determine what you should go after.

i. Is this you? It’s not that you’re trying to copy somebody; does it come from your heart?

ii. How big or satisfying is the reward?

iii. What and how much are you willing to risk, and what are you ready to sacrifice?

iv. Do you know or have the basics?

v. How big is your desire?

Thank you for your time.
