There’s so much nature can offer, there’s a lot life can offer, and there is so much man can offer. All three of these almost have unlimited wealth. Just take, for example, man. Man has been given reason (intelligence). We all know how much man has and can achieve through intellectual power. Every man has gifts and talents. These have given legends and have created so much financial wealth, and social life from the individuals with special talents in all fields.

Then we have potential. This word means, according to the Concise Oxford Dictionary,

-Having the capacity to develop into something in the future

-latent qualities or abilities that may be developed and lead to future success or usefulness

Man has been created with potential, which is a capacity or latent qualities that can be honed, chiseled, harnessed, trained, directed, shaped, forged, and carved into anything valuable as your final product.

Potential is not like talent and gifts. These are limited, specific, predesigned, and pre purposed, but potential is not. Potential is like a blank cheque.

Inside you there’s a gift, a talent, you have brains, opportunities in life and potential. You can do anything you want from these, but not everything you want.

Do you know why?

It is because of man’s limits. Our bodies have a limited amount of time and space, as well as physical ability and presence; we cannot be in two places at once. We are limited by the brevity of life.

Under such circumstances, what do you do? You get up, plan, execute strategies, choose, focus, discipline, and work hard and smart. It’s only through such a process that something of significance is achieved, and that’s how you become productive.

I want to introduce to you the concept of redemption.

redeem definition

I got this definition from Merriam-Webster.com.

To buy it back, repurchase

Transitive verb. 1a : to buy back : repurchase. b : to get or win back. 2 : to free from what distresses or harms: such as. a : to free from captivity by payment of ransom.

I want you to reclaim, repurchase, to win back, to free yourself from what distresses or harms you, to free yourself from captivity. In living a productive and fulfilling life, remember that we only live once.

Many people get distracted by their talents, gifts, desires, different opportunities that life offers, their great potential, and so many other things that they forget that they are limited. Yes! There are unlimited things you can do, but you and I are limited.

When we try to be everything, do everything, and be everywhere, we put ourselves in distress. We lose so much. We sabotage ourselves, our effectiveness, and our future.

We do not live forever in this world, no matter how long you may live. So let’s get used to the idea of not being here one day. Let’s get used to just being something and not everything. Let’s get used to making the most of our limits and not the opportunities of life.

Be comfortable seeing other people do better than you in some areas of life, because no matter what you do, there will always be someone better than you. There will always be someone with a more attractive wife or husband and more successful children than you.

That is life.

Get used to seeing somebody that no matter what you do, they will never appreciate you. Get used to seeing someone always disagreeing with you. Get used to finding someone who doesn’t know you but hates you with a passion.

Get used to seeing Sometimes, people will never accept you no matter how good you are at what you do. Get used to never finding common ground with some people. Get used to that you will win some and lose some. That’s life.

One common trait we have as humans We all want to be on top of the pile; we want to be better than anyone. We want to be successful more than anyone. We all share this nature; the difference is some of us are more upfront with that, while others are too good to hide it, far away in the corner of their hearts.

Get used to living with a certain measure of uncertainty. Learn to let it go, learn to hope and believe.

All you have to do is be the best version of yourself: live your life, mind your business, work on what you need to improve, and compete with no one but yourself. Save yourself time and resources by focusing on you. The best life is not to be above everybody, but to live accordingly to the best of your potential.

Making the most of your time, opportunities, and limits. Our limits are not a curse but an opportunity to be focused, to be disciplined and productive.

I conclude with these powerful words of Harry Emerson Fosdick;

“No horse gets anywhere until he is harnessed. No stream or gas drives anything until it is confined. No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined. One of the widest gaps in human experience is the gap between what we say we want to be and our willingness to discipline ourselves to get there.”
